Sharon L. Moskowitz of the Freeport Lions Club

Has been elected to the office of 1st Vice District Governor.

Sharon has been a Lion since September, 1996.  She has served as Club Secretary (several times), Club President and sits on the Board of Directors.  She has served as District Secretary (2007-2008 and 2009-2010).  She has also served as a District Zone Chair.  She has also been involved with MERL/GMT (Membership, Extension, Retention, Leadership / Global Membership Team) since 2005.  In 2009 she was instrumental in organizing the charter for the newly formed Merrick Lions Club as their Guiding Lion.

Awards include, Club Secretary of the Year, Robert J. Uplinger, New York State’s highest award.  The award honors outstanding Lions, non-Lions and organizations that perform exemplary service to the Club, District or Community. These honorees possess the highest examples of Lionistic character, ideals, purpose and service.  She is also a Melvin Jones Fellowship Awardee.  This Fellowship Award (LCIF) is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism.  The recipient of this award becomes a model because of the exemplary service to his club and the community for which it serves.  She also has an International Presidential Certificate of Appreciation for her service to Lions.

Sharon is looking forward to serving the members of District 20-K2, Nassau County and Bermuda as 1st Vice District Governor, 2011-2012.

For Fire Prevention Month the Freeport Lions Club had speakers from the Freeport Fire Department come in and speak about fire saftey in our town.
